SOUTH WEST BUDGERIGAR CLUB (MANDURAH) INC

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

It goes without saying, that without members there would be no Club! Due to the membership being spread over a vast area it is virtually impossible for some members to attend meetings, [we have members whom we have never met!] however, all members are important to our Club and we value each and every one of them.

There are some members, present and past, who deserve special mention:

Ray and Mary Anne BENNETT (Dec'd 16.8.2013): Ray, a former Committee Person and Mary Anne a former Show Secretary and Tea Person. Both members worked hard promoting the Club and never failed to volunteer when help was needed. Due to ill health the Bennetts resigned in 1999.

Trevor DOIG (Dec'd 12.7.2009) : Life Member, foundation member of the Club, former President, former Show Manager and Vice President - whenever there was a position to be filled or a job to be done Trevor could always be counted on. Due to ill health Trevor had to sell his birds but retained a keen interest in the Club until his death in 2009.

Norrie FIELDER (Dec'd 28.3.2004): Norrie was a fantastic supporter of our Club until 2003. Ill health kept Norrie away from his duties as Social Organiser - a job he carried out for many years - never once missing a meeting with his famous fish paste sandwiches. Every Club needs a 'Norrie', friendly, helpful and always ready to assist where needed - the ideal Club man. We will miss you Norrie.

Bill [7.8.2012] and Ilene FISHER [3.7.2012] (both Dec'd): without the help of these two former members, our Club would not have survived. Bill, a former Show Manager and Show Secretary; Ilene, a former Librarian and Accessories Officer. Due to ill health the Fishers resigned in 1999. Their wonderful contribution and happy disposition have been sorely missed at the Club.

Cec (Dec'd 28.8.2020) and Brenda GEARING: Cec was the President from 2001 until 2012 and Brenda has held positions as a Committee Person and Show Steward. Cec and Brenda's contribution to the Club has been nothing short of outstanding. The Club took on a renewed purpose - not only did Cec contribute personally and financially, but the encouragement and support offered to members has resulted in many innovative ideas being implemented at the Club, as well as renewed enthusiasm by members to participate in Club activities.

Len JOHNSTON (Dec'd 5.4.1995): Foundation member of the Club, former President and Committee Person - Len worked tirelessly for our Club. Wherever Len went he always promoted the Club, organised guest speakers and judges and made many donations to the Club in the form of show cage stickers, trophies and cash donations. Len would be very proud of the direction the Club has taken.

Fran and John McLAUGHLAN (Dec'd 26.11.2017): The news of Johns sudden passing is a day Club Members will never forget - the outpouring of grief was an absolute testament to the love and respect members had for John. John and Fran worked tirelessly for the Club and WABC, never wanting thanks for their contribution. Both John and Fran have held numerous positions in the Club - John being Club President for 5 years and WABC Delegate to name just a couple of the positions. John has left behind a legacy that should see our Club move forward in a positive way - they are very big boots [thongs!] to fill but all members are determined to carry on his good work. Fran continues to support the Club and is working hard to breed some top birds in Johns honour.

Russell McMAHON (Dec'd 17.4.2013): Life Member, foundation member of the Club, a former Vice President, Treasurer and Committee Person. In the early days, due to a lack of space at the meeting venue all the staging, plus all the Club equipment, had to be transported to the hall each meeting day - this necessitated taking two vehicles - one with Russell and all the gear! Over the years Russell deposited and collected the trophies and laminating; put the ads in the local paper: did the Club banking etc. etc. Russell's versatility plus proof reading skills were greatly appreciated and have been sadly missed.

Lionel and Joan SAVILL: their contribution and support was greatly appreciated - could always be counted on when help was needed - their contribution and friendly disposition have been greatly missed.

Allen STRACHAN (Dec'd 8.2.2005): the untimely death of Allen in 2005, at the age of 54, was a huge shock to all members. Allen always made himself available to assist wherever he could. Allen spent a year as a Committee Person and during that time worked tirelessly promoting the Club. Allen's personal contribution and friendly disposition will be greatly missed around the Club.

Denny [19.3.2004] and Hilda WILDBLOOD [1.8.2006] (both Dec'd): Life Members, foundation members, Denny a former Trophies Officer and Committee Person and Hilda a former Accessories Officer.
Denny is to be thanked and congratulated for the hand drawn Budgerigar used on our Website, in our magazines and on all our correspondence.

John YOUNG: John supported our Club in numerous ways, not the least of which were the hand carved Jarrah Wine Racks donated to the Club for raffles. John also spent many hours cutting out show cages for the Club and after they had been assembled spray painted them for members. John regularly bought 20 plus birds to our Table Shows, at the same time holding down a full time job and living approximately 150 klms from the Club. John was often seen taking new members aside, in his role as Public Relations Officer, and giving them a helping hand - a great asset to our Club. Due to ill health John decided to sell his birds but not before he made all the Show Cages for the 2015 Nationals.

Last but by no means least, Paul - who is not a member of the Club, but is now the world's best speller of `Budgerigar'! Without Paul's patience, knowledge, encouragement and expertise this Website would not have been possible. Paul's forte is in Computers not Budgerigars.

To ALL members who have supported our Club - THANK YOU - we hope you enjoy/enjoyed being part of our Club - your contribution is greatly appreciated.

We say `Farewell' to the following members and hope they are having great success breeding those elusive champions somewhere in "Budgie Heaven":
